Category: accessible Devices
Hello all. I just got the lgvx8300. Anyone else have this phone? I like it but I don't know how to program the address book and so on. Does anyone have any tips on using this phone? Any websites that I could visit and or email lists regarding this phone and using it from a blind persons perspective?
Thanks.
Troy
I used to belong to an e-mail list for blind users of LG phones. Unfortunately once I learned all I needed to know about using my 4650 model, I unsubscribed from the list and don't remember the address. I posted about it a long time ago probably on the accessible electronics board if you want to do some searching. But to answer your question, yes there is a list out there that could help you.
Okay, I looked and found the information. Send a blank e-mail with the word subscribe in the subject line to BlindusersLGVXPhones-subscribe@yahoo.com
Have the 8300 and love it!
Thanks Becky, that list is a big help!
Love the phone!

Can someone describe what things are accessible via speech on the 8300? Since I am not a verizon customer I don't get to play with that one. Thanks.
Basically everything. Let's start with what it won't do then you can get an idea what it will do. First to even have speach you have to set the speach mode (the rep from the verizon store did this for me).
It won't read text messages but it will say who it's from, but you can send text messages. There's an updated phone I believe it's the 9900 that will read the text message.
The mp3 player all though I've heard it works however I can't say rather it does or it doesn't since I've never got into playing with that just yet.
Most minues and such are voice driven and the ones that arn't you basically memmorize the reputitions to get to the thing you want for a non talking menue.
The voice commands rock!

I like the mp3 player. Get yourself a micro sd and you're good to go! The 3 buttons on the front can be mp3 shortcuts: rewind, play/pause (hold down to stop), fast forwar.
Let's see a few quick voice drivin commands.
call name or number
send message to name or number
check: time, phone status, battery, signal strength, messages, voicemail, volume
go to: This menu you can speak go to my sounds. Unfortunately, once it gets you there there is no more speaking. Go to: bluetooth, my sounds, notepad, eztip calculator, may be more.
Look up item: name or number, modify, read out, erase.
There's the gist of it. Your contact list is read for you, and when you enter letters or numbers they are read out as well. Overall, out of the box, excellent phone!
